A retro-inspired game for the Usagi game jam 2026

Graphics and code by Max Mustermann

Code, graphics, levels and music by Sanjo Ride

Controls: WAD or controller to move

SPACE or controller X to extend the rescue rope

ENTER or ESC for settings/pause

-----------------------------------------

Inspired by old 8-bit and arcade classics like Jupiter lander and Choplifter.

I tried to adhere to the constraints of the game engine to capture that classic retro feel and mood.

Use your lander to rescue the moon-men. you can lower your rope to pick them up with space or X on controller and then deliver them to safety on the green landing pad.

Keep an eye on your fuel though, if it runs low you will need to return to the landing pad to fuel up, otherwise your lander will stop responding and crash.

Be sure to stay in range too, for if you leave the screen you will lose control of the lander and it will crash!

Have fun pilots!

Creative mash-up of the two inspiration which culminated in a really neat experience! Controls felt great once you get used to the gravity of the situation (lol). Levels felt neat, although some could use an extra alien or two, but overall it is better to have a easier jam game than a hard one.

Graphics and sfx were well made and reminiscent of the era and the synth speech was an awesome touch!

Really well done, now where are my other levels? /jk

have completed all levels and even did an extreme maneuver at the last level over the top of the heart. :)

XD .. that's awesome to hear .. I wish you had captured it on video :D
